What a gorgeous day! This past Friday I had the great honor to photograph my friends wedding. This day was so special for several reasons. Foremost, it was Holly! I met Holly in bible study about three years ago and ever since I met her I have been impressed. Holly glows in a way that makes everyone around her want to glow too. Not long after I met Holly she started talking about Garrett. I am fairly sure she was hooked from day one, whether she knew it or not. I had the pleasure of taking Holly and Garrett's engagement pictures just last year and they are so obviously in love. They are both kind and fun loving. Just perfect together.
Another reason this wedding was special is it was my first wedding post-covid! I was so thankful that Holly was able to keep all their plans the same, including this incredible venue, Gruene Estates! Every detail of this wedding was perfect and a large part of that was the accommodations and attention to detail at Gruene Estates.
This wedding so so full of love and support on every side. From the groomsmen and bridesmaids to the parents and grandparents, everyone was filled with joy for the marriage of Holly and Garrett. Fun was had, songs were sung and dances danced. Very few tears but lots of laughs. It was an absolute pleasure and joy to get to be a part of this day and I am blessed to know this amazing couple and family. I hope you enjoy this little sneak peak into this beautiful day!
The bridal sweet was perfectly outfitted for all the girls to get ready comfortably. The house is decorated so sweetly and the front porch was perfect for Holly's final reveal to her friends and family!
One of my favorite things is the dad first look! Holly's dad had already seen her dress, but the moment is still so special! This is the first time he gets to see her all dressed up for her wedding. She will always be his little girl but today she also becomes someones wife. This is also a great time to get a few family portraits!
Holly and Garrett decided to do a first look, so we did wedding party portraits separately before they saw each other. These groomsmen were so fun and full of personality! Every one of the bridesmaids looked so lovely, I had an easy job at this wedding!
I was so glad that Holly and Garrett decided to do a first look! It gave them a chance to really just enjoy their day together and let some of the nerves go. They embraced all their time to just hold hands, admire their respective wedding looks and feel all the butterflies of a wedding day together! We also used this time to take a few portraits so that after the ceremony they could quickly join their reception. Two people in love has to be the easiest photography subject of all time.
The details of this wedding were so perfect! Holly's ring matched her dress and shoes beautifully. The flowers were subtle and sweet and the eucalyptus made everything smell so good! I loved the lanterns and candles. The venue had longhorns on the property, I promised Holly not to take to many pictures of them! I love longhorns but she did not want them to be prominently featured. Between the venue and the amazing wedding planner Cassandra, the details for this day came together absolutely perfectly.
Holly and Garrett's ceremony was much like the rest of their day; simple, sweet, fun, and full of love. Their parents looked on with pride, their friends stood by them in support, and they only had eyes for each other. Their minister told stories and gave blessings of faith and encouragement. Holly and Garrett took communion together ad their first act as husband and wife. After they were pronounced man and wife they rang the church bell in a stunning declaration of celebration.
That kiss though
After the ceremony we took family formal portraits, a few wedding party and a few bride and groom portraits. My all time favorite pictures of any wedding day are the first few moments after the ceremony. As the bride and groom rush out of the church, into the sunlight, and have their first moment as husband and wife. It always feels incredibly intimate. The ceremony starts to sink in and they realize that two have become one. They truly belong together now.
This is it. We made it! These are the final portraits of the day. After this everyone moved to the reception. The food was delicious, the cake was decadent, and the dancing was carefree. Congratulations Holly and Garrett, and thank you for allowing me to be a part of your day!
